2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, Grand Sport X Debut with new 6.7L V8!

2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, Grand Sport X Debut with new 6.7L V8!

Chevrolet is bringing back the iconic Corvette Grand Sport name for 2027, giving the Corvette lineup a new performance-focused option with distinctive styling, advanced technology and track-ready equipment. Alongside it comes the new Grand Sport X, which introduces electrification and all-wheel drive to the Grand Sport formula.

Both models are designed to offer a balance between everyday usability and serious driving capability, positioning them between the Stingray and the more extreme Z06. For Canadian enthusiasts, Chevrolet says availability is anticipated later in 2026, while final pricing and some performance figures remain to be announced.

A New 6.7-litre LS6 V8 at the Heart of the Grand Sport

The standard 2027 Corvette Grand Sport is aimed at drivers who prefer the direct connection of a naturally aspirated V8 and rear-wheel drive. Its new 6.7-litre LS6 V8 produces 535 horsepower and 520 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most powerful standard engine Chevrolet has offered in a Corvette to date.

The engine uses a 13.0:1 compression ratio, a 95-mm throttle body, a high-velocity tunnel-ram intake and a performance-focused lubrication system designed for extended high-load operation. Power reaches the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with automatic and manual shift modes.

Grand Sport X Adds Electrified All-Wheel Drive

The Grand Sport X takes the same 6.7-litre V8 and adds a front-mounted electric drive unit, creating an electrified all-wheel-drive system. Chevrolet rates combined output at 721 horsepower, with the front motor contributing 186 horsepower and 145 lb.-ft. of torque. A compact 1.9-kWh lithium-ion battery supplies the electric system.

The front electric motor can provide immediate torque to the front wheels, helping improve traction during launches and acceleration out of corners. This gives the Grand Sport X a different character from the rear-wheel-drive Grand Sport while retaining the naturally aspirated V8 at its core.

Z06-Inspired Widebody Design

The Grand Sport follows Corvette's established performance formula with a widebody chassis inspired by the Z06. The broader stance accommodates larger wheels and tires while supporting greater grip and stability.

The Grand Sport and Grand Sport X feature 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged-aluminum wheels, with several finishes available. Carbon-fibre wheels can also be selected to reduce unsprung mass. Heritage-inspired options include centre stripes and signature fender hash marks, while colours such as Admiral Blue Metallic connect the new models with the Grand Sport's history.

Both versions will be available as a coupe or convertible. Chevrolet is also offering a special Launch Edition interior featuring Santorini Blue detailing, red accents, embossed headrests and a dedicated interior plaque.

Performance Packages for Track Enthusiasts

The rear-wheel-drive Grand Sport offers several ways to increase its track capability. The available Z52 Sport Performance Package adds a stiffer suspension, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires and high-performance J56 brakes derived from the Z06.

For drivers wanting a more serious track setup, the Z52 Track Performance Package adds carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires and carbon-fibre aerodynamic components, including a splitter, dive planes, rockers, wing and underbody strakes.

The Grand Sport X takes a different approach. Chevrolet equips it with standard carbon-ceramic brakes and offers a Performance Package with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Built for Everyday Driving

Although the Grand Sport has clear track ambitions, Chevrolet has also designed it to remain usable on the road. Magnetic Ride Control and Touring Suspension help provide a more adaptable driving experience, while available all-season tires can make the standard Grand Sport more suitable for everyday use.

The Grand Sport X adds another unusual capability through Stealth and Shuttle modes, which allow the vehicle to move quietly using its electric front axle without engaging the V8.

Inside, available technology includes Google built-in compatibility, Performance Data and Video Recorder, Performance Traction Management and multiple selectable drive modes. The Performance Data and Video Recorder can provide information and video that drivers can use to review their performance on the track.

Where Does the Grand Sport Fit?

The Grand Sport is expected to occupy an interesting position between the Corvette Stingray and Z06. It adds wider-body styling, more specialized chassis hardware and a new naturally aspirated engine while maintaining a road-friendly character.

The Grand Sport X broadens that concept by adding electrification and all-wheel drive. Rather than replacing the V8, its electric motor supplements it, giving buyers another way to approach Corvette performance.

Canadian Release Timing and Pricing

Chevrolet says the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X are expected to become available in Canada later in 2026, with production at GM's Bowling Green Assembly facility in Kentucky.

However, Canadian pricing and certain final performance figures have not yet been confirmed. Chevrolet has not provided official 0–60-mph times or final fuel-economy figures, so those details should not be treated as confirmed specifications until Chevrolet releases them.
