2027 Acadia: Key Upgrades, Features, Performance and Design!

The 2027 GMC Acadia continues as a confident three-row midsize SUV for Canadian families who want generous space, strong towing capability and premium GMC technology. With seating for up to eight in the Elevation and up to seven in AT4, Denali and Denali Ultimate configurations, the Acadia offers flexibility for everything from daily Kingston commuting to longer Ontario road trips.

For 2027, GMC retains the Acadia's 2.5-litre turbocharged powertrain and bold third-generation design while adding useful technology and equipment changes. The result is a family SUV that combines practicality with available off-road capability and upscale features.

What's New for the 2027 GMC Acadia?

The 2027 Acadia receives a series of targeted updates rather than a complete redesign. The most useful change is the addition of an interior camera, which is now standard throughout the lineup. GMC also introduces new exterior colour choices, including Trailstone Green for Elevation and Ink for Denali and Denali Ultimate, while two previous colours are discontinued.

The AT4 also gains an available AT4 Reserve Package, adding higher-end equipment such as 16-speaker Bose Performance audio, additional convenience features and Super Cruise capability. The biggest change for premium buyers is that Super Cruise is standard on Denali Ultimate, while it remains available on Elevation and AT4. GMC Canada's current information lists it as available on Denali rather than standard, so shoppers should confirm the exact equipment of the vehicle they are considering.

Technology for Connected Ontario Driving

Technology is one of the Acadia's strongest areas. Every model features a 15-inch diagonal Premium GMC Infotainment System with Google built-in compatibility, while an 11-inch Driver Information Centre provides configurable information directly in front of the driver. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility also make smartphone integration straightforward.

The Acadia can also provide up to 10 camera views, giving drivers a clearer view around the SUV when parking, towing or navigating tighter spaces. An available 8-inch configurable Head-Up Display projects useful information onto the windshield, helping drivers keep their attention toward the road.

For longer Ontario highway trips, Super Cruise provides hands-free driver assistance on more than 960,000 kilometres of compatible roads in Canada and the U.S. It is standard on Denali Ultimate and available on select lower trims.

Bold GMC Exterior Design

Bold GMC Exterior Design

The Acadia carries a wide, upright and truck-inspired appearance that gives it a substantial road presence. Its long wheelbase, tall body and broad stance create the visual character expected from a GMC SUV.

The Elevation uses the brand's signature grille with 18-inch Grazen Metallic painted aluminum wheels. The AT4 moves toward a more adventurous appearance with a lifted ride height, Gloss Black roof rails, red recovery hooks, steel skid plates and 18-inch dark machined wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires.

For buyers looking for a more upscale appearance, Denali adds its distinctive grille and Galvano Silver accents with 20-inch Pearl Nickel-finish wheels. The range-topping Denali Ultimate takes the design further with Vader Chrome detailing and 22-inch wheels in an After Midnight Metallic finish.

Spacious Interior and Cargo Flexibility

Inside, the Acadia is designed to make three-row transportation practical. The SUV provides up to 651 litres of cargo space behind the third row and as much as 2,761 litres with the second- and third-row seats folded. That makes it suitable for groceries and everyday family equipment while retaining the flexibility to carry larger loads when the rear rows are folded.

The Elevation offers seating for up to eight, while the AT4, Denali and Denali Ultimate accommodate up to seven. Denali adds leather-appointed first- and second-row seating, heated and ventilated front seats and power-folding third-row seats. Denali Ultimate upgrades the cabin further with Woodland Mahogany full-leather massaging front seats, full-leather second-row seating and a panoramic sunroof.

For Kingston families, these features can be especially useful when the Acadia needs to transition between school runs, weekend activities and longer trips across Ontario.

Turbocharged Performance and Towing

All 2027 Acadia trims use a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Output is rated at 328 horsepower and 326 lb.-ft. of torque, giving the SUV a strong balance of everyday acceleration and towing capability.

GMC Canada says the Acadia can tow up to 2,268 kg (5,000 lb.) with the standard Trailering Package. The Traction Select System provides up to six drive modes, including Normal, Sport, Off-Road, AWD, Tow/Haul and the AT4-exclusive Terrain Mode.

All Canadian 2027 Acadia trims have AWD, according to GMC Canada. The AT4 adds an off-road-tuned suspension and increased ground clearance of 197 mm, compared with 172 mm for Elevation, making it the natural choice for buyers who expect to venture beyond paved roads.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The 2027 Acadia comes standard with a broad collection of safety and driver-assistance technologies. Depending on the feature, the lineup includes Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Reverse Automatic Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control. HD Surround Vision and Rear Park Assist are also standard.

Denali and Denali Ultimate add Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist and Driver Attention Assist, while Super Cruise provides an additional hands-free driving option on compatible roads when properly equipped. These systems are designed to assist the driver, not replace attentive driving.

GMC Acadia Awards: 2023–2026

The most significant recent safety recognition for the Acadia came during the current generation. The 2025 GMC Acadia earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick award, applicable to vehicles built after January 2025. IIHS continues to list the Acadia as a 2025–26 Top Safety Pick, making this the appropriate recent award to reference for the current-generation model.

No major Acadia-specific award from 2023 or 2024 was identified that would be appropriate to attribute to the current generation, which debuted for 2024. Similarly, the IIHS listing is the key 2026-period recognition rather than a separate newly issued 2026 award. This distinction matters because the 2023 Acadia belonged to the previous generation.

Is the 2027 GMC Acadia Right for You?

The 2027 Acadia is a strong option for Kingston-area drivers who need three rows without moving to a full-size SUV. The Elevation offers a well-equipped starting point, the AT4 adds genuine off-road-oriented hardware, and the Denali trims focus increasingly on luxury and technology.

With standard AWD, 328 horsepower, up to 5,000 pounds of towing capability and up to 2,761 litres of maximum cargo volume, the Acadia is well suited to Ontario's changing seasons and varied driving needs.
